How does Hypnotherapy work?
Whilst under hypnosis - a deep sense of relaxation - the therapist makes appropriate suggestions in order to help the client to make positive changes.
Problems in our everyday lives - fears, phobias and other emotional issues are usually rooted in old memories from our childhood. Such negative memories are stored in our subconscious mind. For certain reasons they can resurface into our conscious mind even though such memories are now irrelevant to us as they happened a long time ago.
Current issues in our lives are often connected to these resurfaced memories.
With Hypnotherapy, emotions linked to resurfaced memories can be altered. In most cases this can resolve the underlying cause of a particular problem/issue.
What to expect at the first session?
At the beginning of the first session I will ask you about the history of your problem while making some notes then discuss the best treatment plan for you. This can always be changed depending on what you prefer or what works best for you. I will explain to you everything that you need to know about being in hypnosis and about the Hypnotherapy tools I might be using with you.
The first session is about 90 minutes long and the initial consultation (talking) usually lasts for 30-40 minutes.
To successfully treat a problem it usually takes 3-5 sessions. However, this can be more or less depending on a particular issue or on the individual.
Hypnotic regression is a process by which a person in hypnosis recalls a memory or series of memories from the subconscious mind. Major events from childhood, both positive and negative can serve as an imprint that influences our ways of experiencing ourselves and the world.
While in hypnosis a person’s awareness is heightened and memories can become more vivid.
Because of the heightened suggestibility that occurs as the subconscious mind is accessed, insights can have a much greater impact than they normally have.
A new understanding of how a significant negative past experience has had an influence on the present can often bring a long-lasting resolution for a problem.
This therapy is based on the belief that the subconscious mind is made up of different parts and all they have different responsibilities/jobs.
Problems occur when two parts, usually the conflicting and the motivating part, pull in different directions thus causing inner-conflict in a person.
While in deep hypnosis these parts are more responsive for positive suggestion and through successful mediation between them a long-lasting resolution can be achieved.
